I'm about to word vomit......
It really, truly blowssss my mind how these "social media fitness influencers" aka instagram models, aka "Name_Fit" have such large followings and get paid ridiculous amounts of money to promote crap like this (video above), claiming that it's "an intense exercises" or "the ultimate glute workout" or, my personal favorite, "30 booty challenge". 1) This exercise (if even done correctly *even better when done standing*) should be used for the following: activation, corrective exercise, rehabilitation purposes, seniors, etc. On its own, this is NOT an exercise that should be done for 10 minutes, while huffing and puffing, thinking it's going to build you a 🍑. And unless you're training to become an Olympic gold medalist at the Chicken Dance, this is the complete opposite of any type of functional movement. When the hell would you do this movement in real life (other than when you're stuck at a desk and really freakin have to pee)?!? Am I bashing on using bands during your workout?! Hell no! Like I said, they're great for purposeful needs (listed above). But if you think sitting your ass down on a bench and doing these banded "good girl, bad girls" for 8 sets of 527 reps and then going home will get you lean and "toned" and help you twerk?? Well then, good luck y'all. Learn to squat. Or dead lift. Or swing. Or STAND UP during your workout 🤦🏼♀️ If this is what the fitness industry is turning into because of social media and "fit Instagram chicks who lift", then I'm going to open up my McDonalds...... k thanks for listening. #SittingFlattensYourAss
