Squats Can't ALL Look The Same, People!

I've always PERSONALLY had a love/ hate relationship with squats. Not for my clients, but for myself. Let me explain why....

Squatting below parallel WHILE MAINTAINING PROPER FORM will never happen for me. Plain and simple. My mobility is great, and core strength is strong, but the length ratios of my body make it pretty much impossible to have a "picture perfect squat". And by picture perfect, I mean "ass to grass", upright chest (near vertical), no butt wink, and no over arching of my lower back. The reason why? Because the length of my femurs is significantly longer than the length of my torso. Does it matter that I'm tall? Nope! It's strictly based on the ratios of my limbs. Here's a silly but accurate picture that illustrates what I'm talking about:

So coaches and trainers--- before you try to "fix" your clients' squats by forcing them to stay upright and sink deeper, take a look at their body and their limb lengths/ ratios. Not every body is created the same! If you're made like me, your squats will be much more hip dominant, your chest WILL have to fall, and your hips WILL have to go back, and that's okay! Because we gotta make room somewhere for them long ass thighs!!
